Sisterhood

Engage with Sisterhood

Chizuk Amuno Sisterhood offers an engaging community for women to experience, enhance, enjoy and embrace their Jewish identity. Our diverse programs and projects encompass our religion and traditions and provide opportunities to build friendships as well as learn.

In the spirit of Gemulit Hasidim (acts of loving kindness), we sponsor environmental programs and partner with community agencies to reach those in need.  Whenever possible, we pair our programs with a charitable cause. Our multi-generational membership builds community l’dor v’dor – from generation to generation. We support the general welfare of our congregation and schools financially and through volunteer efforts.

YOU and your membership, ideas and participation are the key to the continuance of our vibrant organization.

Have a great idea, email the President of Sisterhood. We welcome your input!

Mission

Chartered in 1886, Chizuk Amuno Sisterhood has been and continues to be an integral part of the congregation.

Chizuk Amuno Sisterhood is a member of the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism (WLCJ) and within Women’s League we are in the Seaboard Region.

The Purpose of Sisterhood

  • Unite and strengthen the bond of Sisterhood within its membership and promote in every way possible the welfare of our congregation, its schools and the programs of Women’s League to perpetuate Conservative/Masorti Judaism
  • Encourage ethical and religious practices in everyday living
  • Support the education and programming for students within Chizuk Amuno congregation and schools
  • Support programs of Chizuk Amuno Congregation
  • Be a strong supporter of the Women’s League Torah Fund (see below)

Torah Fund

Torah Fund is the WLCJ’s dedicated philanthropy.  Your generous participation ensures the future of Conservative/Masorti Judaism. The funds raised by all Sisterhoods in WLCJ contribute to the education of future rabbis, cantors, educators, and scholars at five seminaries world-wide. Participate by a donation or by purchasing Torah Fund cards in our Judaica Shop or online. A gift of $180 or higher is acknowledged by an artistically designed Torah Fund pin representing the annual theme.

Membership

Your membership strengthens our ability to offer great programming and financial support to all the congregational schools. You do not need to be a member of Chizuk Amuno to join Chizuk Amuno Sisterhood. Membership letters are sent during the summer, but you can join Sisterhood anytime.

You may view the dues and pay it online here.

If dues or programming costs are challenging for you, please contact our President, Sue Crystal. We welcome, value, and appreciate your participation.
